BOWLING.
OPENING SUMMER SEASON. CEREMONIES THIS AFTERNOON. A considerable number of Auckland bowling clubs will open the season today, and with fine weather prevailing it may be confidently anticipated that there will be large and successful gatherings at the various greens. The principal event will be the opening of the Epsom Club's new pavilion. The president of the Auckland Centre, Mr. J. W. Hardlev, will officiate at the ceremony, and will afterwards visit several other greens. A good indication of the popularity of the game and the progress being made at North "Shore is afforded by the Devonport Club, which is in the happy pos'tion of being able to open a new pavilion today to mark the commencement of the summer season. The Auckland and West End Clubs will informally open their greens. Other clubs which have opening ceremonies this afternoon are Mount Eden, Rocky Nook, Rawhiti, Onehunga, Otahuhu, and Avondale.
