THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.
OPPOSITION TO NEW BILL.
REPLIES TO HAMILTON PROTEST. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Saturday. In reply to a telegram sent by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce executive on Thursday protesting against the passing of the Dairy Industry Amendment Bill, Mr. J. A. Young, M.P. for Hamilton, has telegraphed as follows: —"You mav rest assured the fullest investigation will be made, and that every opportunity will be afforded all parties to tender relevant evidence. The bill is not without one or two objectionable points. Others, again, are clSsirablo in the interests of cooperation. Representations made to mo by every co-operative dairy company operating in the Hamilton electorate are all in favour of the bill. I am in hopes that parties for and against the measure will confer and come to an agreement on basic points of difference." The Prime Minister telegraphed thai he was referring the chamber's protest to the Minister in charge of the bill. The Auckland Chamber of Commerce telegraphed supporting the Hamilton Chamber's attitude, while the Dunedin Chamber executive advised that it was unwise for the Dunedin Chamber to interfere where interests conflicted. The matter was one for proprietary and cooperative companies to make representations.
