CYCLE ROAD RACES.

WARRNAMBOOL TO MELBOURNE,

Australian and N.Z. Coble Association. CRocd. 7.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Oct. 12. The weather was fine and the road conditions fairly good yesterday for tho Warrnambool to Melbourne cycle road race. A stiff wind helped the riders. The placed men were all Victorians in the professional section, namely, King, Snell and Baumby. The amateurs were Thomas (N.S.W.), Davidson and McKay (Victoria). W. A. King (62m.) and W. E. King (54m.), father and son, were in the lead most of the way. W. E. King won by two yards, after a fin© finish from C. Snell (53m.). J. Baumby (50m.) was third. The elder King finished fourth. The winner's time was Bh. 9m. 18s. H. Opperman made tho fastest time, 7h. 15m. 375., The amateur 100 miles cycle race, Colac to Melbourne, resulted as follows: —H. Thomas, New South Wales (16 minutes), 1; J. Davidson, Victoria (16m.), 2; A. C. McKay, Victoria (20m.), 3. Won by a ,'ength in 5h om. 575. The fastest time was that of N. McLeod, Victoria (scr.), 4h. 53m. 50s. This broke the record for the race, made by McLeod last year, by four minutes.

ENGLISHMEN'S COMING TOUR,

Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Reed. 6.6 p.m.) SYDNEY, Oct. 11. The Board of Cricket Control has fuced the payment for players against the English touring eleven at £30 per match, firstclass travelling expenses, and £1 daily for personal expenses when away from their own States. The request of the New Zealand Cricket Association for a visit of the Australian eleven prior to their English tour in 1926 was deferred for consideration at the next meeting, to be held in Melbourne in December.

CRICKET IN SYDNEY.

BOWLERS HAVE DAY OUT.

Australian and N.Z, Cable Association. CReod. 12.85 a.m.) SYDNEY. Oot, 18. Saturday's cricket was generally marked by low scoring. The bowlers made good records, particularly with "googlies." Ashe, playing for Sydney, took six wickets for 22 runs. Mailey, for Balmain, took six for 63. Randall, for Manly, took seven for 63. Collins made 23 and Carter 34 for Waverley. Macartney compiled 41 and Kelleway 56 for Gordon. These were among the best scores by international players.

STANLEY DEFEATS KELLY,

Australian and .N.Z. Cable Association. CRecd. 7.5 p.m.) SYDNEY. Oct. 10. At the Sydney Stadium last evening Billy Stanley beat Tommy Kelly on points. The winner displayed clever work against his doughty opponent. The fighting throughout was willing. At Melbourne Jee Fox beat Ansell Bell on points in a well-contested contest.
