SHOWERY RACE DAYS.

Not only in Auckland do racegoers have to go out to the course prepared for the worst in the way of weather. The following is an account of the dressing at a recent Derby meeting in wet weather in England:—Women members of the Coaching Club wore smart tweeds and leather coats and lenther hats. Those in motor-cars liad bright-coloured mackintoshes and umbrellas. The Duchess of Westminster had a crimson one with a hat to match, t.nd the Countess of Cottenha.ni had twisted a brieht blue and white foulard scarf round the neck of her bright blue waterproof. The Countess of llchester wore a silvery prey mackintosh, and Lady Stanley a deep navy blue one with a white li.it. As is usual on Derhy Day, women from tilt? East End came in Bwarms. And before " cockney " ostrich feathers, the finest plumes' in Mayfair paled in colour and length. Many of Ih"ce feathers have come to Epsom for many, many years. 'ifie Queen looked magnificent, for her cream satin cloak had a broad ermine collar, which was worn over a white ."ilk dress, and her tooue was of swathed pale blue and gold ribbon. The Queen of Rumania had a gown of flame tint under an embroidered gold and flame cloak, and a small black felt hat having n couple of hand-painted quills repeating these colours at one side. Prinocss Arthur of Connaught was in black with a small ermine collar.
