WEMBLEY SENSATION.
AEROPLANE IN FLAMES.
PILOT'S LUCKY ESCAPE. LONDON. Sept' 21. The 100,000 spectators at the military tattoo at Wembley were thrilled by an unrehearsed spectacle, : when one of the three electrically-illuminated aeroplanes, which were circling over the Stadium and representing German bomb-droppcrs, developed engine trouble. It descended, landing in a field outside the exhibition grounds, narrowly escaping the telephone wires in the darkness. The machine burst' into flames, illuminating its surroundings. The spectators were horrified, rethinking the pilot must have perished, but he had jumped out uninjured a few seconds before the machine caught fire.
