NEW FISHING SEASON.
SPORT IN THE MANAWATU.
PROSPECTS REPORTED BRIGHT.
[BX TELEGEAFH.--OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Saturday. Tho prospects for the fishing season which will open next month, are stated to be very bright and anglers are anticipating good sport. There are plenty of fish in tho Manawalu River and its tributaries, and the mild winter has kept the water in a condition for the development of trout. On Tuesday 500 yearling trout from Masicrton will be liberated in tho Manawatu River. Tho local holding ponds will be cleared in about a fortnight, when some 3000 or 4000 trout will be liberated.
