THE PAKURANGA HUNT.
LAST MEET OF THE SEASON.
The Pakuranga Hunt Club held its - final meet of the season on Saturday, and •* a largo number of followers assembled at Kelly's Corner, Papatoetoe, where the -: ; hounds met. The weather was bright ;• and warm, with a summery aspect, ,V th 6 hounds showed a marked inclination to mako for any available water, as if they .found the heat greater than usual for fast hunting. Scent throughout the after* * noon was patohyj and did not hold well. Hounds were first thrown off on Messrs. Stonex Bros.* farm, where a strong - ■ hare was set going. It ran through the ' properties of Messrs. J. Frost and H. Swaffield, when a check occurred, but later the scent was again picked up. -.- Hounds then continued on at a somewhat slow pace through the properties of ¥ Messrs. Landon, Baker, T. Gillard, Gait- rley, and J. Gillard, to Mr. Stubbing'* farm, where a kill was registered. A smart burst then took place over tho farms of Messrs. J. and K. Boss, Phillips, and Dawson, Knight, and W. Hope. . During the afternoon considerable country was worked by hounds, and hunting concluded on Messrs. Stones Bros.' farm. When the word was given for home general regret was expressed that there would - be no more hunting till next year. Despite /,. the very wet winter hounds have provided some good sport on a number of occasions, and a word of praise is due to '. the huntsman and his whipper-in. Among the followers were:—-The Hon.
