" YELLOW, LIKE A COW."
Charged with stealing a horse from a Chinese named William Soo, a Hindu bottle-gatherer, Hira Vallabh, appeared at the Wellington Police Court last week, and pleaded not guilty. The evidence . was that both men owned horses, that the , horses were grazing in j adjoining paddocks, and : that the Chimu man's animal was taken away and sold, to the Zoo for 15s. Counsel said accused had never had anything to do with horses, and he had taken Soo's animal by mistake. Mr. JS.'Page, S.M., said it was obviously a case of mistaken identity, and he dismissed the charge. The description of the horse, given by the Chinese, was as follows: —"ft was a bay mare, yellow, like a cow, and looked just like V racehorse. It ; was 18 years old. and worth about £5 ss. It did not have hairy legs." ■',
