He was proceeding at the time to an inquest concerning the death of Miss Helen Nind, a music teacher, having been subpoenaed to attend. It was disclosed at the inquest on Miss Nind that she had poisoned herself. Tho proceedings revealed only a hint of tho love story behind the tragedy.
