\ THE PROPOSED LOANS. [BY telegraph.—own correspondent.] TLBAU. Friday. The Mataniata County Council met a,i> Tirau to-day, Mr. J. W, Anderson presiding. Dates were arranged for ratepayers' meetings throughout the county to hear explained tho main roads loans proposal prior to the poll on October 1. Tho amount involved is £201,000. Tho council supported proposals from.; tho Taumarunui County Council that the I Government be urged to grant legislai tion this session providing that half the I timber royalties from Crown lands bo j paid to local bodies. Various circulars were received from ! tho Main Highways Board regarding I highways machinery. One stated that the j board was considering the purchase of j j the necessary plant to lay hot-mix 18ft. j ! wide along the Great South Road from j j Otahuhu to Franklin County.
