Dealing with the proposal to change the. jiarao of the' Hamilton Racing Club to the Waikato Racing Club, the president, Mr. Vercoe, spoke of the. desirability of tho measure. Ho was of tho opinion/ that the change of namo would occasion no difficulty, while it would do a great deal to bring about a spirit of friendliness. When the club's debentures were offered recently, £'2760 were taken up by people within the borough and £75G0 by people in the out districts. Tim went to prove that the latter were Strang supporters of the club. The voting sra3 49 in favour and 2& against. WAIKATO HANDICAPPER. MR. W. P. RUSSELL CHOSEN. [Br TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] HAMILTON. Wednesday. The committee of tho Waikato Racing Club held a special meei.rsg last evening and appointed Mr. W. P. BasselL of Wellington, as handicapper for the new season. There were four applicants for the position. « Mr. Russell, who is a young man, has done successful work as handicapper to several clubs, including Stratford and Feilding.' He has acted as deputy at Nelson. Dahnevirke, Masterton, Ashburton ana Oamaru. He recently accepted the position of judge to the Wanganui and Taranaki Metropolitan Racing Clubs.
