DOUGLAS MAWSON WRECK.

THE EXPEDITION DELAYED. A. and N.Z. SYDNEY. Aug. i. A message from Port Darwin states that the expedition, which has been formed to endeavour to rescue the reported survivors of the Douglas Mawson wreck, has not yet started. The general opinion is that it never will.

The captain of the Huddersfield, the vessel engaged for the trip, had a disagreement with the owners and left. New parts for the engine were ordered from Sydney and wrong' parts were sent, so the engineer also left. It is claimed that nothing but a steamboat will serve against the exceptionally rapid currents along the coast.
