MOUNT ROSKILL AFFAIRS.
FOOTPATH TO SCHOOL,
The Mount BosMll Road Board met last .1 evening. There.were present the .chair- ! man, Mr. G. E. Tansiey, and Messrs. E. J. Herd, J. H. Cooper, E. Brewer, : S. Scarborough and J. J. Preston. The Mayor of Auckland, Sir James Ounson, wrote suggesting a conference of local bodies interested in considering the question of traffic conditions. The board approved the proposal. ;\t The Education Board requested that a footpath be formed along the' Mount Albert Road, between Dominion Hoad and Mount RoskUl School. As an., altarnative the board decided to form,. : a ','. foot-: path along levers' Lane, now known as JParua Street, which would considerably shorten the distance from the Islington Estate, besides being less dangerous ;to the children than Mount Albert Boad, along which cattle were continually being driven. The chairman remarked "that it would not be long before a new school would be roqnired near tbe eirf of Dominion Road, and this would be attended by the children now walking to j ;&e Mount Boskili School. The Mount Albert Borough Coandl suK mitted a report and. plan, of tfce flooded areas within its district, lestmiating ; thb Mount RosHU district's provide stormwater drainage at £6345. It was decided to repudiate all liability.
