OLYMPIC ATHLETES.
MEDALS WON PRESENTED. RESULTS OF CYCLING EVENTS. iu and N.Z.—Sun. PARIS. July 27. Five thousand people attended the presentation of the Olympic medals at the Colombes Stadium, The United States received 45 winning medals, 28 seconds, and 27 thirds j Britain, 9 first, 11 seconds, and 11 thirds. Australia received a total of 10, South Africa 3, and New Zealand and Ireland 2 each.
In the elimination heats of the 1000 metre scratch cycling race at Vinceanes run over tho 500 metres course at the municipal stadium, Dempsey won from Plet (Argentine) and Pechan
(Czecho-Slovakia). Coppins won from Thansen (Denmark) and Dimtschieff [Bulgaria).
In the eliminating heats of the 4000 metres team race, Australia was matched against Chile. Both forfeited. Australia because Dempsey and Coppins were reserving themselves for the 1 final of the 1000 metres.
The final resulted: Michard (France), 1; Myere (Holland), 2; Cugnot (France), 3. Abrahams, British Olympic athlete, announces that he has broken down and will be off the track for quite 18 months. The 2000 metres tandem sprint was won by the Frenchmen Cugnot and Choury. In the five kilometres sprint Willems (Holland) beat Alden (England). Broadbenfc (Australia) was leading when the tyre of his machine burst. In the 5000 metres consolation race Hansen (Denmark) beat Broadbent by half a wheel.
