AUCKLAND STOCK EXCHANGE.

There was again good inquiry for investment stocks on the Auckland sharemarket yesterday and a considerable amount of business was transacted. In Government. securities War Loan and Inscribed Stock, 1938, each had sale at £97 it)s, an advance of 5s on Saturday's buying offers. War Loan, 1939, also changed hands at £97 10s, with further inquiry at £97 ss. Soldiers' bonds and inscribed stock were sought at £101 ss, holders quoting £102. In ordinary debenture stocks New Zealand Breweries sold at 225, late buyers offering 21s 9d, sellers 225. In banks there was a sale of New Zealands at 565, further buyers offering 55s 9d, sellers 56s 6d. Commercials of Australia changed hands at 28s 6d, with late inquiry at 28s, sellers 29s 3d. Nationals of New Zealand had buyers at £6 10s 6d, sellers £6 13s; Unions of Australia, buyers £15 2s 6d, sellers £15 6s. In insurances business was done in New Zealands at 29s 9d, late buyers offering ths same figure, sellers 30g. South British, available at 41s 3d, had buyers at 40s 6d. In gas Auckl&nds, ex dividend, were inquired for at 255, sellers 25s 6a. The contributing issue was wanted at 5s 9d, sellers again quoting 6s. In shipping Huddart-Parkers had buyers at 43s 6d, sellers 443; Northern Steamships, buyers 16s 4d, sellers 17s. P. and 0., deferred stock, were again inquired for at £276, without response. In timber Kauri Timbers changed hands at 295, with further inquiry at 28s lOd, sellers 29s 3d. Nationals had sale at 245, further buyers offering 23s 9d, sellers 24s fid. Miscellaneous stocks remained practically unchanged at recent quotations. In mining there were sales of Waihjs at 29s lOd and 30s, late buyers offering 29s lOd, sellers 30s. Waihi Grand Junctions had buyers at 2s Bd, sellers 2s lid; Moanataiaris, buyers 2s, sellers 2s 4d.
