DEATH BY GAS POISONING.
YOUNG MAN'S SUICIDE.
DIFFICULT TO EARN LIVING.
Soma distressing features surrounded the action o£ a young mail named Lionel Storrs, in taking his life by gas-poisoning at an apartment house in Sentinel Road, Ponsonby. Stcrrs was a single man about 23 years old, and a native of London. He had no relatives in New Zealand, and until recently was a steward on the lonic. Since March he had been employed
by a city firm as a laud salesman. It appears from statements made to friends that he found difficulty in making a livelihood, and this was borne put by the fact that he had only 3s 3d in his possession at the time of death. At ah inquest held by the coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., yesterday, Constable Leslie stated that on Sunday morning ho was informed by deceased's landlady that Storrs l)3d locked himself in his room and had not been- seen for some days. On entering the room through a window, witness found Storrs lying dead in bed. His head was wrapped in two pillow slips, and a gas tube connected with a ]et was in his mcuth, the gas being turned on. No note had been leTt by the young
man. Evidence was given that deceased was last seen alive on Wednesday morning, when he seemed quite cheerful. The coroner returned a verdict that deceased died on July 25, the cause of death being suicide by gas-poisoning.
