ALLEGED HOTEL THEFTS.
TWO ARRESTS IN GIS BORNE. ARRIVALS FROM AUCKLAND. J i fBX TELEGEAPH.—O WK COEEESFOHDENT.) ; GISBORNT3, Saturday. Prompt arrests were made in connection with reported robberies on hotol premises and as a result two young men, Albert Edward Duncan and Raymond Woodward, appeared in the Magistrate's Court charged with stealing three separate sums of money totalling £86. The three charges were as follows:—That on July 25 they stole from William Black the sum of £60 in money; that on or about the same date they stole £6 in money the property of Ronald Morris j and that on or about July 25 they stole £20 the property of Patrick Burke. In applying for a remand until Wednesday Detective McLecd said that the two accused had recently arrived from Auckland. The offenders were alleged to have been committed on the Royal Hotel premises, pisborno. The. guests' rooms were gone through. He would ask that the accused be remanded in order that further inquiries could be made. '"It is possible," concluded the detective, " that further charges will be laid against the accused." The accused were remanded to appear next Wednesday. Detective McLeod objected to bail which was accordingly refused. ; V:V ; - ■
