BOARD OF SCIENCE AND ART.
APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS.
The appointment of five members of the Board of Science and Art is announced in the current issue of the New Zealand Gazette.
Under the Science and Art Act ''of 1913, the Dominion Museum and Art Gallery was constituted, and provision was made for the appointment of a Board of Science and Art, to comprise the Minister for Internal Affairs, the director of th® Dominion Museum, the president of the Neyr Zealand Institute, and five persons to be appointed by the Governor-General.
The five members now appointed by th<j Governor-General are: The Hon. G. M. Thomson, of Dunedin; Mr. P. G. Morgan, director of Geological Surveys; Professor Marsden, assistant director *of education; Dr. G. H. Scholefield, of Masterton; and Mr. H. M. Gore, secretary of the New Zealand Academy of Pine Arts, Wellington. Each of these members appointed is to hold office for three years. The duties of the board are to manage and direct the Dominion Museum, Art Gallery, and Library, to acquire articles, books, and documents of Bcientific, artistic, or historical interest, and works of art, to arrange for the printing of scientific papers deemed worthy of being kept as a permanent record, and to advise the Government a3 to expenditure, which may be reasonably incurred with benefit to the Dominion in scientific and historical research and the development of. science and art.
