' Something of a sensation was caused in >/ Timaru to-day as the result of a report '■ made to tho police by a clerk in the 1 National Bank of New Zealand to the effect that a burglar broke into the bank in the early hours of this morning. .] The clerk in question sleeps on the ; premises and on being awakened at 5 a,ni. hurried down the stairs with his re- ' volver. ? ; A scuffle took place "between himself arid the-intruder. The latter'is said to have thrown a chair at the clerk's head. The chair struck the clerk's volver, causing it to go off.
