SPECTACLES FOR WEMBLEY.

'In the House of Commons, it was stated that it had been arranged in connection with the Pageant of Empire, to be held at the Empire Exhibition between July 21 and August 30, to make available nearly half the total accommodation in the\ Stadium free of charge to the public.

The Government has arrived at the decision despite tbe sacrifice of revenue which was entailed, because it realised that the pageant would be not merely a magnificent spectacle but also an educational instrument of the highest value. The Government therefore desired to give all classes, especially children, every facility for witnessing it.

The Empire Pageant will take three days to display. It will comprise the following spectacles; — First Day.—Tho court of Henry VII.: The departure of Sebastian Cabot; court scenes and dances of the period. The discovery of Newfoundland: Formal annexation by Sir Humphrey Gilbert in the reign of Elizabeth; life and history of the colony up to the present time. Canada: Discovery. Pageant of the early French settlers; parade of honour on the heights of Abraham of the soldiers of Wolfe ana Montcalm; war of opening of the Golden West.

Second Day.—The days of Queen Elizabeth : Merrie England; the return ot Drake after the defeat of the Armada; Morris dancers; procession of ancient city companies; English fleet in the Mediterranean ; Blake makes safe the patlis of commerce and clears the way to the East. South Africa : Settlers of all nationalities ; meeting with Tchaka; discovery of dia monds and gold; Wilson's last stand; Cecil Rhodes' conference in Matoppos; act of Union. India: State procession of Jehangir, the great mogul and the reception of Sir Thomas Roe; splendour of the Kast and history up to recent times. Third Day.—The court of George 111. : Captain Cook sets out on expedition to the South; discovery of New Zealand and Australia. New Zealand: Meeting with Maoris; early settlers; war with the Maoris; peace and prosperity; call of the Empire. Australia: Foundation of Sydney ; era of development: growth of wool industry from days of George 111. ; opening of the first Parliament of the Commonwealth by Kine George V., then Prince of Wales. Warriors of the past and present: A marvellous mounted and unmounted pageant of the nation's heroes ■ soldiers of Richard Coeur de Lion; Cromwell, Marllx)rough, Wolfe. Ciive and Wellington; heroes of the sea! Drake. Grevillc, Blake, Howe and Hood : funeral barge with body of Nelson; toll for the brave. Empire's thanksgiving: Ihe Dominions, India and colonies with their power, splendour and resources show to the Motherland their sacrifices, loyalty and love; navy, army and air force in spectacle. Massed Chorus: Finale; Hudvard Kipling's "Recessional."
