RANGIRIRI HILLS ROAD
COMPLETION NEXT YEAR.
WORKING TO PROGRAMME. MR. COATES' STATEMENT. [BS TELKGBAPH. —OVflf CORRESPONDENT.] WELLINGTON. Wednesday. " The work will be completed according to programme, no sooner, and no later. All this criticism will not put one extra stone on the road," said the Minister for Public Works, the Hon. J. G. Coates, in discussing the latest strictures from Auckland regarding progress on the Rangiriri Hills Road. " The year 1925 was the time fixed for completion when the work was begun, and in 1925 it will be finished," said Air. Coates. "Jt may have been stated that we would try to complete it after the present winter, but you can't get on with metalling in that country in weather such as has been experienced. All the squeaking in the world will not get it done now, but I am glad to see all this row in Auckland. It helps me in putting the case."
