ENGLISH COUNTY CRICKET. GOOD BATTING PERFORMANCES (Received 5.5 p.m.) Renter. LONDON. July 14. In the county cricket matches Surrey made 386 runs for eight wickets declared (Jardine 122, Abel 90 not out). Lancashire replied with 20 for no wickets. Notts scored 462 (Payton 65) against Middlesex, who made 253 (Moffatt 55 not out). Following on Middlesex have made 53 for two wickets. Yorkshire registered 205 (Holmes 59) in their match against Kent. The latter replied with 143 for two wickets (Hardinge 84 not out). Bowling for Kent Freeman took five wickets for .39 runs.

Hampshire scored 453 (Aird 131, Bo well 55) against Somerset, who responded with 424 for four wickets (Young 198, M. Lyon 87, A. Rippon 51). Bowling for Somerset White took five wickets for 122 runs.
