DROWNED ON A KETCH.
CAPTAIN AND HIS SON. TASMANIAN FATALITY. PATHETIC EVIDENCE GIVEN. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright. (Efeecived 10.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. HOBART. July 14. An inquest was held to-day concerning the death of Captain Sproule and his son, Vernon aboard the ketch Mystery on July 7. While at anchor, the craft heeled over daring a squall and Captain Sproule and his son, who were sleeping below, were drowned. Algy Sproule, another son, gave evidence that when the boat capsized he shouted to his father and brother. He heard his father scream as the boat heeled over and completely flooded the cabin. A diver who recovered the bodies gave evidence that the captain was clasping his son in his arms. He had evidentlyawakened and aroused his son but Bad been overwhelmed iri the act of attempting to reach the deck. A verdict of accidental death was returned.
