The Kuro is to go into dock this morning for cleaning and painting in connection with her extensive overhaul. The Kaitangata haa been fixed to load a cargo of coal early this week at Greymouth for Auckland. The Katoa is expected hi Auckland tomorrow with a cargo of coal from Newcastle. She is bringing a small Australian mail. The Ataa sailed on Saturday afternoon for Southern ports, via Gia borne. She will load again in the South for Auckland. The Kaimanawa was expected to leave Portland on Saturday night for New Plymouth and Weatport. The vessel is to load a cargo of coal at Westport about Wednesday for Auckland. The Waitomo. after discharging a large cargo o£ coal, is to be despatched for Newcastle to-morrow to load for Wellington and Auckland. . THE CANADIAN CRUISER. The Canadian Government steamer Canadian Cruiser sailed on Saturday afternoon for Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide to complete discharge of har cargo from Montreal. Subsequently the vessel will return to New Zealand to load for New York, Boston and Montreal.

HARDWOOD FROM PORT STEPHENS. The Kaituna arrived from Port Stephens yesierday morning and berthed at the Central Wharf to dischargo a part cargo of Australian hardwood. The remainder will be discharged at Napier. The vessel experienced a fine weather trip to Auckland, moderate north-east winds and seas prevailing all the time. THE LINER CQRINTffIC, TheoShavf, Savill and Albion liner Corin*hic is expected at Auckland about Sunday with passengers and cargo from London an 4 Southampton. The passengers will disembark at this port, and the cargo will be discharged at Auckland and. Lyttelton. A. S. Paterson. and Co., Ltd., are the local agents.. RIO CLARO LEAVES NEW YORK. The Commonwealth and Dominion Dines chartered steamer Rio Claro was despatched from New York on Juiy 8 with cargo for discharge at Auckland. Napier, Wellington. Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She is due &t this port about August 5. WAIRUNA SAILS AT 5 P.M. TO-DAY. The Union Company's trans-Pacific cargo eteamer Wairuna is to leave Auckland at .6 p.m. to-djy for Fanning Island. Honolulu. Vancouver and San Francisco, taking cargo for those ports and also mailß for Fanning Island and Honolulu.

ARA'HURA RESUMES TO-MORROW. The Arahura, after an extensive overhaul, is to resume running in the East Coast passenger service to-moriow, when she is scheduled to ['oil at 2 p.m. for Tokoruaru Bay, Gisborne and Napier. The .vessel will make her usual intermediate trio between the last-mentioned two ports. THE AWAHOU AND MAKO. The Richardson steamer Awahou is expected to complete her overhaul at the Prince's Wharf to-day. when she will commence loading for Tokom'aru Bay, Tolaga Bay and Gisborne. ... , , , The Mako's overhaul should be completed about Thursday. She will, then • load for East Coast bays and Napier. LATE CAPTAIN A. E-, STRICKLAND. Captain A. E. Strickland, of the Commonwealth and Dominion steamer Port Hacking, who died aboard that vessel jitst before her arrival at Hobart on June 16,, ■was a single man, about 45 years of age. He served his time with the old "Port' Line. When the Commonwealth and Dominion Line absorbed the "Port" steamers, Captain Strickland wenli over to it, and remained until his death. He had command for twelve years, among the vessels of which he was in charge being the Port AuKusta, Port Elliott, the old Port Hardy, which was torpedoed, and his last command, tho Port Hacking.

TEKOA FROM LONDON. The New Zealand Shipping Company haa received a-dvice that the Tekoa sailed from London on the afternoon of July 8 for Auckland and Wellington. She is due at Auckland about August 12. THE NGAKUTA. The Union Company's - Island steamer Ngakuta arrived at Rarotonga from Auckland on Wednesday morning and sailed the same evening for Mangaip. and Aitutaki. After loading a cargo of fruit the vessel ■will probably leave the Cook Group to-day for Wellington and Auckland. THE TUTANEKAI. ThfGovernment steamer Tutanekai sailed from Wellington on Thursday afternoon on her official visit to southern and West Coast lighthouses. The vessel will also proceed to the outlying islands to look for castaways. She will be absent from Wellington for about five weeks. THE SCHOUWEN. The Dutch steamer gchouwen sailed on Saturday afternoon for Wellington and Lyttelton to complete discharge of her cargo of Australian hardwood. TREDINNICK DUB AT 6 P.M. TO-DAY. The A. and A. Line's chartered steamer Tredennick, en route from New York to Auckland, has reported by wireless that she is meeting with bad weather, but will arrive at 6 p.m. to-day. THE TOFUA SAILED. j With 120 passengers and a large mmntity of cargo, the Union Company's islnnd steamer Tofua was despatched for Fiji. Tonga and Samoa on Saturday evening. The vessel ,is due back at Auckland on August 4. THE OMANA. The Lamb steamer Omana left Auckland at a late hour on Saturday for Opua to complete loading her cargo of timber for Melbourne. TREMERE LEAVES NEW YORE!. The Hain Lino steamer Tremere, under charter to the A. and A. Line, sailed from New York on July 9 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru. Dunedin and Bluff. The vessel is due at this port about August 12. , THE R.M.S. iMAKURA. The Royal Mail steamer Makura cleared Honolulu on Wednesday, en route from Vancouver to Auckland and Sydney, The vessel is dua at Suva on Friday and at Auckland next Monday. THE KENT. The Royal Mail steamer Mauncanui arrived at Sydney from "Wellington at 8.45 a.m. yesterday. Savill and Albion steamer Waimana, is expected to complete cargo operations at the Queen's Wharf this evening, and to-morrow morning she is to sail for Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedm m continuation of her voyage from Glasgow and Liverpool. THE MANAIA, The Mariaia arrived from East Coast ports last -night and berthed at the Central Wharf. The vessel has completed her charter for the Union Company and will resume running in her usual trade, to Whangarei on Wednesday night. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE.
