MUTINOUS FILIPINOS.

NATIVE SCOUTS AND TROOPS

BOLSHEVIK PLOT SUSPECTED. Efeuter. MANILA. July 7. Two battalions of Philippine Scouts and native soldiers in the United States Army at Fort McKinley, six miles from Manila, refused duty. Their action followed a raid by the provost guard on a clandestine meeting of the Scouts, 23 of whom were arrested. The Scouts are disaffected over their rates of pay.

The situation at one stage was serious, as it was feared that the disaffection would 6pread. Seven thousand Scouts and white troops were kept under arms and the natives were disarmed before the mutiny, which is believed to have been inspired by Bolshevik emissaries.
