Heavy fighting has extended over a week. Helio messages from the garrison report a serious shortage of water. The wounded are suffering terribly. Aeroplanes made a vain endeavour to relieve the garrison by dropping ice. The Biffs are making determined efforts to capture the garrison. The Spaniards admilt heavy casualties, but say that there is no fear of their surrender.

ißeceived 11.55 p.m.) Keuter. MADRID. July 8. A communique says that- the general situation in Morocco has improved. Strong reinforcements arrived at Melilla and Tetuan from Spain. The besieged garrison at Cobadarsa has been relieved.' The enemy has retreated in disorder, leaving many dead and wounded. The Spauish lost abont 100.
