CLAN MAGELLAN'S PLIGHT.
SEARCH PROVES FRUITLESS;

The steamer Leicestershire reports that she : received an S.O.S. call ; from the steamer Clan MacMillan stating .. that she was sinking 30 miles east of Table Jsland, The latter is 170 mihjs from the Andaman Islands, in the- Bay of Bengal. ', ■ The Leicestershire steamed to the position indicated, but saw no sign of the Clan MacMillan or her boats. v . The search is being continued, however. A report from the Andamans states that boats have been sighted off the islands. The Leicestershire reports in a later message, however, that she has still found no trace either of the Clan MacMillan, or of her boats. . The Clan MacMillan is, a steel screw steamer of 6608 tons belonging to Messrs. Cayzer, Irvine and Co.. of. Gl"seow.'. She was built in Sunderland in 1918 by W. Doxford and Sons. Limited. .
