Several footballers were injured; during Saturday's matches in Auckland^, A member of the King's Old Boys' ; senior Rugby team, . Norman J'.-: Grabble, sustained a fracture of ■-, tho' ', right \ leg, i between the knee and th<) ankle, in < the match against Newton at . Eden Park. The ; accident occurred, ; through Gribble and /another player attempting fto kick the ball at the fame tinw. The injured player was conveyed to the Auckland Hospital. Gribble, who iis a'; well-known amateur: athlete, is. 21 years of age, • and resides at Wallace Street, Heme. Bay.-. Another accident; occurred :during the Metropolitan-Hellaby's .senior Association footbal match at Victoria Park, a member of the 'team, /P.: Runimins,/dislcc!it-. ing his , shoulder. ; . ; After treatment /: at the hospital he was able to proceed -jto his -home in \ Grange Road,; Mount ; Eden. Three . (members of -the Suburbs -/ senior Rugby team received irijuries which' necessitated -, their retirement during : the game against ;North' Shore at Devonport.One was considerably shaken by . a collision, though his' case : was not: considered to; be serious,, and another received an injury to his shoulder. ; -The; ; third player was rendered .unconscious.
