CAMBRIDGE AND TE AWAMUTU STEADY ADVANCE REVEALED fBY TELEGRAPH.— OWN CORRESPONDENT ] ! - HAMILTON. Monday. ; Steady increases in the demand for electric current for lighting and power have been shown in connection with . the operations of the* ; ; Cambridge and Te Awamutu electric j power boards. The chairman of- the board, Mr. Mervyn Wells, in his annual report, / said that ; steady progress has been made with the work of supplying power, for lighting for milking motors, and for general purposes. ! There; had been an ■[ increase in consumers of 20 per : cent., and in revenue of '43 per cent, over last year's figures, the figures for this year being:

It bad been necessary to open the sub-stfttiou at Hautapu to relieve the load •on that at Leamington. The; limit of < available power/ was in sight. :' The addition " of Taotaoroa .to the board's ;•'. area had enlarged the district to 137 square miles. ' , An increase in ; the Te • Awamutu BJoard's revenue was reported ;by the chairman, Mr. J. T. Johnson, who added that if the increase were maintained during the coming year the board's position would ; be? quite satisfactory. The revenue for the . last year totalled £10,927, against £7031 for the previous period. The connections totalled 1144, as against 814. {An increase in < the power factor was much to -bo desired. Everything that i would tend to produce /this increase was necessary. ■
