CONFERENCE OF TEAOHERS. [BY TELEGRAPH. PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON. Friday. The Secondary Schools Teachers Conference resolved: — . "That the executive of the association tu-ce the Government to raise _ widows • pensions under the Superannuation Act, being of opinion that the present allowence is a mere pittance and a blemish on the education system of New Zealand. "That this association expresses 111 general its confidence in agreement with the . present system of grading, classification and , appointment of secondary schools teachers, and would strongly disapprove of reverting to the conditions obtaining previous to the introduction of the present regulations pertaining to classification and the appointment of secondary school teachers." . , , , "That the association protests strongly against the inference contained in the reported statement of the director that the school teachers' year consists of 1001 official hours " "That it is most desirable anj , change in the syllabus for the matricula tion entrance scholarship affecting t.h< work of secondary schools in the current or following year shall bo notified a; promptly as possible after the annua, bieeting of the senate."
