By Telegraph— Association— (Received 11.5 p.m.) Renter. CONSTANTINOPLE, May 14. A violent earthquake is reported to have occurred in the region of Erzerum. Several villages have been destroyed. The human victims numbered about 50. . The railways in the area have been damaged. ,
Erzerum,, is the capital city of Turkish Armenia, 110 miles south-east of Trebizond:. It is situated on a plain watered bv the Kara-Su, or west branch of the Euphrates. Erzerum is the principal station on the trade route from Trebizond to Teheran, Persia, and one of the chief halting places for caravans from Teheran to Mecca.
