RUMANIA AND BRITAIN
ROYAL VISIT TO LONDON, CHEERED BY THE PEOPLE. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Router. " LONDON, May 12. Following on visits to France, Switzerland and Belgium, King Ferdinand and Queen Marie of Rumania were this morning escorted acrosß the .English Channel by four British destroyers and five aeroplanes. Their Majesties landed at Dover, where they were met by the Prince of Wales. They then entrained for London. On arrival at Victoria station the Royal visitors were cordially welcomed by King George and Queen Mary. The " Prime Minister, Mr. Ramsay, Mac Donald and other Ministers and distinguished personages were also present. The Royal party ! drove through cheering crowds and beflagged streets to Buckingham Palace. King George conferred the Order of j the Garter on King Ferdinand at a State banquet at Buckingham Palace this evening. QUEEN MOTHER BETTER. ' PRECAUTIONARY MEASURES. Reuter. LONDON, May 12. It is officially announced that Queen i Alexandra's health continues satisfac- | tory. In * order to avoid unnecessary fatigue, however, it has been decided that she will not take a personal part in the public celebration of Alexandra Day ! (June 25}. No date has been fixed for | Queen Alexandra's return to London.
