ERUPTION AT HAWAII.

NEW YORK, May 11. „ A. message from Hilo, a seaport on the east coast of Hawaii, states that the ' vol- > cano, Kilauea, on the latter island, is in eruption. A dust cloud from the volcano • is rising to a height of two miles, and - presents an awe-inspiring spectacle. Volcano House, the Government station, i reports that it is the strangest sight seen for many years. Avalanches of rock continuously thunder within the pit, lava cataracts are falling from the crater, and steam and ga3 are escaping through crevasses. The volcanological instruments continue to give evidence of the temperamentality of tne ancient cauldron. . The lava flow is incessant. It is coming from an unknown outlet, which the assistant volcanologist,- Mr. Finch, indicates is probably beneath the sea. The sides of the crater are falling in and t'te lava movement shows a sinking tendency. Minor earthquakes have been, frequent in the neighbourhood,' according to the seismograph records.
