A GOVERNOR IN GAOL.
forgery and fraud.
INDIANAPOLIS. April 23.
Warren McCray, who was serving a term of imprisonment, recently got out of gaol long enough to write a pencil note to the Secretary of State, resigning his position as Governor of Indiana. An hour after his return to his cell he came out again to hear himself sentenced to three years' imprisonment for using the mails for fraudulent purposes.
McCray has thus <flosed a remarkable business career. He " schemed to make 10,000,000 dollars. He had five farms, where he raised purebred stock, and when he needed funds he forged the names of the farm superintendents and other workmen to notes which the banks cheerfully cashed for auch a great man. Reverses came, however, and McCray was ruined.
