WORLD AIR SERVICES.
ALL-RED MAIL LINES.
LONDON TO AUSTRALIA.
NEW GIANT AEROPLANES. LONDON TO PARIS TRIPS. By Telegraph Proas Association—Copyright. (Received 5.5 p.m.) A. and N.Z. LONDON, May 6. The Daily Chronicle says that, following the settlement of the airmen's strike, a new company is organising extensions to the Empire airlines. Link by link this will result in an All-Red service of mail and goods aeroplanes, and several waggonlits, travelling regularly between London and Australia. Giant aeroplanes are being built of metal throughout with all the latest weight-saving devices. In the meantime an expert survey of the airway to Sydney is being made. There will be 11 stations. These will be at Malta, Cairo, Bagdad, Karachi, Calcutta, Rangoon, Singapore, North Borneo, New Guinea, Port Darwin -and Sydney. It is estimated that an express service over the 13,000 miles will occupy 131$ hours. The new company's plans include refuelling in mid-air by means of winged tankers rising from the stations. The Imperial Company at Croydon is acquiring huge night-flying aerial sleeping cars for the purpose of establishing an after-theatre service between London and Paris. This will enable parties to leave London in the late afternoon, dine, attend a theatre in Paris, and return to London the same night. It will also enable the Parisians to do the same in respect to London theatres. Anglo-French business men will be able to return to their homes after commercial dinners on the same night. The company realises that only by night flying and the carriage of midnight mails can the airway be made to pay.
