ENGINEERING SCHOOL.
AUCKLAND'S GREAT NEED.

At a meeting of the Thames Valley Power Board , Mr. Willey drew attention to the necessity for an engineering school at the Auckland University v College. He said he understood the University Council was endeavouring to obtain facilities which would enable engineering students to go through the courses necessary for obtaining the required diplomas at Auckland. At the present time it was necessary for such students to go to Christchurch to study. He though the power board should discuss the matter and express its views in a resolution. - " ' . Mr. Gauvain (engineer), spoke in agreement with Mr. Willey, and said that if a resolution were passed supporting the University Council the latter would .assuredly welcome it. The chairman, Mr. F. H. Claxton said that he thoroughly appreciated Mr. Willey's remarks, and pointed out the hardship that youths from this province suffered in having to go to • Christchurch to obtain the university training. The board unanimously decided to convey to the Auckland University Council its opinion that the time has arrived for the Auckland University to have all facilities for training men in engineering.
