POPULATION OF FRANCE.
ANXIETIES OF THE FUTURE. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Rccd. 5.5 p.m.) PARIS, April 27. Speaking at a banquet, the Premier, M. Poincare, stated that the number of young men and women reaching the age of 20 between 1935 and 1340 would diminish in proportion to the full in the birth-rate during the war years. This meant that France would be confronted with industrial, agricultural and military anxieties. She must therefore encourage large families, assist immigration and foster the closest co-operation between France and her colonies.
