SWAMPED IN MIDSTREAM.
LADY TEACHERS IN DANGER. RESCUE ON MANAWATU RIVER. [BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION. ] FOXTON. Monday. Two young lady school teachers, Misses Fahey and McMurray, had a narrow escape from drowning through their boat swamping in midstream in the Manawatu River on Saturday afternoon. Both managed to cling to the upturned boat until rescued in an exhausted condition by Mr. Hartley, who fortunately witnessed the accident and pulled out to the rescue.
