TRAM AND LORRY COLLIDE.
CAR CONSIDERABLY DAMAGED THREE PEOPLE CUT BY GLASS A collision between a tramcar and a motor-lorry occurred in Khyber Pass, close to Newmarket, shortly after four o'clock yesterday afternoon. The tram, which was bound for Onehunga, was proceeding along, the level at a fair pace, when a lorry- turned into Khyber Pass from a side street and swung across the rails. Although the motorman quickly applied the brakes, the tram struck lb« rear portion' of the lorry with considerable force. The front part of the car was badly damaged and the motorman was thrown back on to the platform. The glass panels were smashed, the motorman , and two passengers • being slightly cut by the flying pieces. Little damage was done to the lorry. The tramcar was crowded at the time.
A collision between a tramcar and a motor-lorry occurred yesterday near the intersection of Queen Street and Fort Street. The lorry was crossing the tramlines at right angles to turn into Fort Street, when it was struck near the rear wheel by an outward-bound tramrar. The force of the impact caused the lorry to skid, and to run right on to the footpath. Nobody was injured, and only minor damage was done to the motor-lorry.
