Sir,lt is to be hoped that this present strike of railway servants will call publio attention to the need for the Waiuku Canal, to give inland watercarriage between the Waikato, and Waipa. country and the Manukau ■ Harbour, which, to my mind, is the most important public work requiring to be done in • this northern district, except, perhaps, the trunk roads.
