MEETINGS OF STRIKERS.

Mass meetings of strikers are to be held daily in the main hall at 10 a.m. It wns originally decided to also meet daily at 3 p.m., but this resolution -was rescinded. The meetings not open to the press, but an official statement is furnished by the executive officers of the A.S.R.S. Subsequent to yesterdays meet in? the president of the society, Mr. t! P. -McCrcidy, stated that thero was again an assembly of close on 800 men. Satisfactory reports were received from the captains of the three teams of pickets that had been appointed. The reports stated that everything was quint. One man of the second division had been iound working, but the pickets had been instructed to make no attempt at intimidation. Addresses were delivered by Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P., and Air. P. Hi'ckey! The former said he was entirely in sympathy with the men in their fight. He did not favour strikes or war, but a time came when men had to light, not oniv for themselves. but for their wives and children. Messrs. T. P. McCready and C. Dawson were appointed delegates to wait on the Railway Officers' Institute and the Enginedrivers, Fireman, and Cleaners* Association.

Mr. McCready said a telegram bad been received from tho executive of the A.S.R.S. in Wellington the previous evening stating that there was a splendid spirit of unanimity, and that the executive was satisfied. It has been decided to issue strike bulletins daily fur distribution to men in the .suburban aroa as far as Henderson and Pukekohe wJ\o cannot attend the meetings at the 1 Trades Hall. The attendances at the meetings have been so large* said Mr. McCreadv. that it would probably be deemed necessary to obtain the use of a larger hall, or hold the meetings in the open. Mr. P. HickAy has been appointed temporarily to $.he position of strike organiser for the Auckland district. Delegates representing the Carpenters',, Plumbers', Bricklayers', Plasterers' and Stonemasons' UnioosS at a meeting on Tuesday evening carried a resolution that they ' r appreciated the action taken by the railwaymen to fijjht the efforts of a Capitalist Government to extend the working hours beyond 44 per week." Tha Dominion Conference of the Amalgamated Engineering Union in Christchurch has passed a potion urging its members to support tho A..S.R.S. in every possible way.
