DARING LIFEBOAT TRIP.
ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA.
LONDON, April 15. William Thomas, an engineer, accompanied by his wife, is a waiting favourable weather to attempt to sail from Penzance to Australia in a ship's lifeboat, 24ft. long. The boat is constructed of steel, fitted with sails, has a cabin and a 17 h.p. motor, and it is provisioned for 2000 miles. Mr. Thomas proposes to cross Franca by canal to Marseilles, to call at Corsica, Alexandria, Port Said, 4jien, Bombay, Colombo, Sumatra, and Java. The long* est section of the journey is 800 miles, and the Indian Ocean iis the most, dangerous to cross, Mr. Thomas says ;he - will steer ;at night • and his . wife will ( take tfcft helm is the day tame.. . -•
