CANCELLATION OF TITLES.
ITALIAN STATE DECREE. Sun. ROME, • April 22. The Italian Government has issued a decree defining the legal titles of the nobility, and causing 200,000 nobles to lose their status. They include 60,000 dukes, counts, marquises and barons created such by the Vatican tfinca 1870. Of the total, 1000 possessed titles dating from the middle ages, but they lacked documentary evidence of their validity.
