PITIFUL DRINKING CASE.
YOUNG WOMAN'S PLIGHT. USE OF METHYLATED SPIRITS. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT, j CHRISTCHUKCH, Wednesday. The pitiful appearance in Court to-day of a young, well-dressed woman, dazed and stupid with the effects of drinking methylated spirits,, draws attention to the apparent spread in Christchurch of the habit of drinking these spirits. Defendant, who s 26 years of age, nodded dully when asked if she pleaded guilty or not guilty. She shook her head when asked if she would gt> to the Salvation Army Home for a few days, and being a first offender, was fined ss. She had to be led into and from the Court.
