AUCKLAND PRESBYTERY.

1 BIBLE SUNDAY ARRANGED. j The Auckland Presbytery met last even- ! ing, the moderator, the Rev, J. Lowden, i presiding over an attendance of about 25 j members. The Rev. C. J- Tocker reported that Dr. ! Ritson, chief secretary of the British and j Foreign Bible Society, would .visit AuckI land from May 4 to May 6. A resolution j expressing appreciation of the work of i the- society was carried, and it was dei cided to observe May 4 as a Bible Sunday. Mention was also made of the forthcoming visit of Captain Gipsy Patrick Smith, who will conduct a united evangelistic mission campaign in tho Dominion in May. It was resolved to extend to the raissioner the full support and cooperation of tho presbytery. The Rev. E. Bishop was appointed to fill the vacancy at Howick. The Appointments Committee advised that the minimum period of office be fixed at four years. The induction ceremony will be held on May 1. Upon tho recommendation of the Home Missions' Committee, the Rev. S. L. Boot was appointed to the Northcote charge. A motion that Mr. D. B. Stewart, of Pokeno, should bo enrolled as a fullyordained home missionary was carried with acclamation. A report upon the progress of St. Peter's Church was submitted, and a resolution of appreciation of the work of the minister, the Rev. Thomas Halliday, was placed on record.
