INCREASED FERRY DUES
INQUIRY BY COMMISSION. MIL BARTON/, S.M., APPOINTED. FIRST SITTING ON FRIDAY The vexed .question between the Auckland Harbour Board and the ferry companies of the Waitemata, as to the recent increase made by the board in the wharf dues on ferry steamers, is to be the subject of an inquiry by a departmental commission. Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., of Wanganui, has been appointed by the Government to make the inquiry, and will arrive in Auckland to-morrow. It is understood by those interested that the first sitting of the commission will be held on Friday.
