TROUBLE IN BERTHING.

MAHENO CAUGHT BY WIND. SLEWED ROUND IN BASIN. TWO VESSELS "GRAZED. KDROW SLIGHTLY DAMAGED. Some difficulty was experienced last evening in berthing the intercolonial liner Maheno when she arrived from Sydney. The vessel was proceeding to a berth on the eastern side of the Queen's Wharf, and when in the basin between the Queen's and Central Wharves was slewed round by the strong easterly wind and rendered unmanageable for a few minutes. This, however, was long enough to render her position extremely dangerous. The bow was quickly swept in the direction of the Central Wharf where the Port Pirie was berthed and, although one of the bow anchors was dropped to hold her, she grazed the Port Pirie before she tv-as brought up. Meanwhile, the stern Jiad been carried toward the end of the Queen's Wharf, where it collided gently .with the Kurow. The impact was sufficient to bend the iron bulwarks of the Kurow at one point, and to slightly dent the plates below the deck line. As far as could be seen the Maheno suffered no damage, and she was shortly berthed safely at the Queen's Wharf.
