Tish and R. T. R«id of Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Spenser Mason of Waiuku, and Mr. J. Coulter, of Feildrng, are at the Star HoteL Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Williams and Mr and Mrs. R. J. Bell, of Hastings, and Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Couper, of Havelock North, are at the Grand Hotel Messrs, G. Bryan, A. S. Lang. F ,7 Williamson, and W. Fuller, of Wellington, and Captain and Mrs. Arccll, of Coromandel, are at the Central Hotel. Professor J. C. Johnson has been elected, _ unopposed, to the New Zealand University Senate as representative of the Auckland district court of convocation The seat was rendered vacant by the death of Mr. J. W. Gilmour, formerly well t°Z n 1? *u c . and . but now in charge of the Methodist mission in Papua wi A headquarters at Salamo, arrived ' from Sydney by the Maheno last evening After a short stay in New Zealand, Mr Gunour will go to Fiji to obtain native recruits for the work in Papua, and on his return to . Sydney will engage in deputation work in that city.. Mr Gilmour studied at the Prince Albert Collego in Auckland, and was sent to Papua* 23 years ago by the New Zealand Conference of the Methodist Church, Lord Dunleath, second Baron of Londonderry, and Lady Dnnleath, accompanied by their son, Captain Mulholland, A.D.C. tfi the Governor-General of Austral "j, and Lady Ellen Lambart, sister of the Earl of Cavan, arrived by the Maheno from Sydney last evening. They are at the Grand Hotel. While in Melbourne the visitors were the guests of the Governor-General. They propose visiting Rotorua and on April 29 Lord and Lady Dunleath and Lady Ellen Lambart will sail from Wellington for San Francisco, via Papeete, while Captain Mulholland will return to his duties in Melbourne.
