PIAKO RIVER OVERFLOWS, VALUE OF DRAINAGE SCHEME. [BY. TEtEGr.APH.—-OWN CORRESPONDENT J NG-A/lEA, Tuesday. It has now stopped raining. A large volume of water is coming down both the Waihou and Piako Rivers, the Piako overflowing its hanks in the vicinity of Patetonga, principally on land not yet available for settlement or stop-banked. In several districts, owing to insufficient drains and outlets, the herds have had to be removed to higher land. All the cream service waggons to the New Zealand Dairy Company's factory at Ngatea have maintained . their service, which would "indicate that the drainage scheme of the Lands Drainage Department is serving a good purpose.
