INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION

The Government of China has adhered to the Berne Convention on tho prohibition of the use of white phosphorus in the manufacture of matches. The convention, adopted at Berne in 1906 was ratified up to the time of the war by 10 countries. A great fillip was given to the adhesion of other countries to this convention by the recommendation adopted by the International Labour Conference at Washington in 1919, which recommended all members of the organisation which had not already don* so, to adhere to this convention. This recommendation has been followed by 13 .-, countries. Among them are not only China, but,also India and Japan.
